Despite the appdb report I had to install d3dx9 via winetricks to get the game running at all. I have an NVIDIA graphics card using the proprietary drivers (glxinfo output attached). A recent GIT build additionally has the regression that the background image in the menu screens is not shown (this works in 1.1.26, output attached).
