WASAPI with Reaper is a really good and stable audio sequencer solution on top of Wine. WASAPI is the only low latency audio option that works out of the box with Reaper on top of Wine. When I disable winepulse.drv on my Linux system winealsa.drv will automatically catch up the job and let me use WASAPI under Reaper. Bad thing on this Alsa fallback is that the audio device get blocked from Reaper and is not usable from any other program anymore. And yes I am a big fan from Pulseaudio and I tested dmix enough to be able to say that dmix only is not a audio setup I will like to have on my Linux system anymore. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. I'm using the Reaper v5.1 demo and WASAPI works with winepulse for me. Is upgrading an option? If not, can you upload a log with the channels from <http://wiki.winehq.org/Sound>?
I can also start Reaper with WASAPI on Pulseaudio in shared mode but it sounds horrible -> all over crackling. Same crackling sound but not that bad I got with DirectSound. Tested this on two audio interfaces. The first an USB generic and the second a Steinberg CI2. Both with the same crackling sound. Exlusive Mode does not work with WASAPI at all on Pulseaudio. WaveOut works fine but has a much higher latency ~30/99 ms Best latency and sound is with winealsa.drv and WASAPI ~20/24 ms -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. That's bug 39814 which may be fixed in wine-git.
