[Bug 14415] New: Monkey Island 3 demo slow
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14415 Summary: Monkey Island 3 demo slow Product: Wine Version: 1.1.0 Platform: PC URL: ftp://ftp.lucasarts.com/demos/pc/cursedemo.exe OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: tsalacinski(a)gmail.com Monkey Island 3 works pretty slow with Wine 1.1.0. It happens only in complex locations, where there is a waterfall etc. COMI works very slow, even on my Core2Duo 2.53 GHZ (which is pretty good for that game I think). The strange thing is, when the screen is scrolling (eg. the character moves to the other part of the scene and the scene is scrolling) it work properly. When the scene is static (eg. no scrolling, only animated parts like waterfall or rain etc) it works very bad. In this demo you can see this when you are shooting with the cannon. A part of walkthrough (on how to get to the cannon): After the intro you'll find yourself captive in LeChuck's ship. Start talking to the small pirate and you'll realize that it's your old friend Wally. Make him see that he is no good as a pirate and he will soon drop his hook and start crying. Pick up the plastic hook from the floor and pick up the ramrod from the wall. Use the cannon and sink the four boats full of skeletons. I'm still getting the same crash from comment #5.
Set Windows version to Win98 to get rid of the early crash. The demo crashes so frequently for me at various points that I wasn't able to test the existence of this bug. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I agree with you, the game does not start if win version is higher than 98. And in win 98 mode the game crashes randomly (wine 1.5.6). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14415 --- Comment #13 from Jarkko K <jarkko_korpi(a)hotmail.com> --- I retry. Now with wine 1.7.18. Setting windows mode 98 --> I was able to play. I didnt set it before at earlier test. But it feels that I get random crashes too. 3 crashes already... The cursor could be a bit more responsive at starting scene, but the animation is smooth. I assume the game is pretty much same shape as reported before. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
