https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38520 --- Comment #2 from Maik Wagner <maiktapwagner(a)aol.com> --- Still present in wine 1.7.43 (Slackware 14.1) - I have disabled "Origin in game" the screen goes black and an empty message box comes up which just says "Ok" - when I click on it, I get back to Origin. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38520 --- Comment #3 from Maik Wagner <maiktapwagner(a)aol.com> --- Hello Sebastian, Backtraces or "severe excptions" (Schwerer Ausnahmefehler, I don't know this Windows term is called in English) no longer occur in 1.8-rc1 unfortunately the games themselves won't launch so I am getting into the same issues I indicated in bug 38495 There is a lot of progress in Origin: Updating now works just fine, browsing the library works, buying games used to work and probably still does but unfortunately the games themselves don't launch on my machine. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38520 Michael Müller <michael(a)fds-team.de> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |michael(a)fds-team.de --- Comment #8 from Michael Müller <michael(a)fds-team.de> --- Are you sure that the C&C95.exe executable is supposed to work on modern Windows versions? From your back trace the game is trying to talk to the VGA controller by reading from the port 0x3DA (see http://wiki.osdev.org/VGA_Hardware). This is emulated by Windows 9X, but would also lead to a crash on more modern Windows NT versions. The crash is definitely unrelated to Origin. I would suggest to reinstall Origin in a 32 bit prefix and set the Windows version to Windows 98 for the C&C95.exe executable using winecfg. Wine has some emulation code for VGA hardware in the Win 9X mode, but I am not sure if it is sufficient. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
