[Bug 41952] New: No music in Oblivion
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41952 Bug ID: 41952 Summary: No music in Oblivion Product: Wine Version: 1.9.24 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: emailofchris(a)gmail.com Distribution: --- Everything seems to work fine in Oblivion except for the music. When the launch screen comes up (the one in-game) it starts to play music for maybe less than a second. Then it stops, and music doesn't work in the game. Not sure why. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41952 --- Comment #1 from Chris Y. <emailofchris(a)gmail.com> --- Created attachment 56341 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=56341 Console output Added console output from launching the game, waiting through the logo videos, and making it to the main menu where I exit a few moments later. Man, Steam sure does make these messier. I should mention, I'm using a USB sound mixer (XENYX 302USB) that has had trouble with Wine in the past - particularly with sample rate I think? - until PulseAudio support came to Wine Staging, and then Wine. A similar issue affects Morrowind and New Vegas. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41952 --- Comment #4 from Rosanne DiMesio <dimesio(a)earthlink.net> --- Oblivion music works fine here in 2.0-rc4, but I have winegstreamer working on my system, and don't have a USB sound mixer. Does disabling winegstreamer (do not install quartz) make any difference? Does music work without the USB sound mixer? -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41952 --- Comment #5 from Chris Y. <emailofchris(a)gmail.com> --- I tried with winegstreamer disabled, and it was the same. Then I unplugged the mixer, plugged in my headphones to the built-in headphone jack and enabled it - still the same. After re-enabling winegstreamer and installing quartz from winetricks, the problem went away and music plays both with built-in audio and with the USB mixer. Do you have quartz installed, Rosanne? -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Do you have quartz installed, Rosanne?
No, I don't. I noticed something in my console output that isn't in yours: fixme:gstreamer:GST_QueryInterface No interface for {37d84f60-42cb-11ce-8135-00aa004bb851}! fixme:gstreamer:event_src 0x7be5b5d0 (61441) stub The fact that you're not getting any gstreamer fixmes even when gstreamer isn't explicitly disabled suggests that winegstreamer may not be working on your system in the first place. I also noticed this in your console output: err:quartz:ACMWrapper_Receive Cannot prepare header 512 That led me to bug 41290, which was marked fixed in 1.9.24, but subsequent comments suggest that maybe it wasn't fully fixed. So I disabled winegstreamer on my system, and got choppy sound and that quartz error message flooding the console. Marking duplicate; I'll reopen the other bug. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 41290 *** -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41952 --- Comment #7 from Chris Y. <emailofchris(a)gmail.com> --- I should also mention - when the background music starts up or changes, the game freezes up for a couple seconds. Also, the opening logo videos are choppy. Not sure if those problems are related, or if I should open another bug report. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
