If it's a steam version, you have to install Steam client in Wine, and install game with it. How are you running it now? Is it a copy of a game installed on Windows?
It's not the steam version. The only thing i can't get is steam so i cracked the game on my pc and i moved it over to my macbook and for a long time it worked. A legit purchase of the game from Steam should work. The problem here is related to the crack itself, and for that reason I won't go into details nor provide the solution.
