[Bug 37569] New: Opera 25.0.1614.68 for Windows - installer fails
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37569 Bug ID: 37569 Summary: Opera 25.0.1614.68 for Windows - installer fails Product: Wine Version: 1.7.30 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: mywine(a)schiermeier-it.de Distribution: --- Created attachment 49986 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=49986 Opera installation log copied from console output. During installing "Opera 25.0.1614.68 for Windows" in a newly created WINEPREFIX I got this: --- [1116/000203:ERROR:autoupdate_manager.cc(522)] [AU] An error reported by the checker [1116/000203:ERROR:autoupdate_manager.cc(682)] [AU] "Check error" error occured while checking for the main update --- The installation wasn't completed so I used CTRL+C to interrupt it. I tried again and got the same malaise. The installer created the folder "Opera" in "Program Files" but this was incomplete. No change to start the browser. If someone need more infos I offer my time and will than rerun this installation with some WINEDEBUG set. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. I get the similar noise and it installs fine here. --- quote --- The installation wasn't completed --- quote --- There is no "install completed" message, it directly starts the browser and runs into bug 21232 (one can see the "Loading ... - Opera" window in task bar) CTRL+C and everything is there: --- snip --- $ pwd /home/focht/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Opera/25.0.1614.68 --- snip ---
From your log I can definitely tell you're wrapping Wine somehow, hiding output. There are well known FIXME messages missing.
--- snip --- $ wine-development ./Opera_25.0.1614.68_Setup.exe --- snip --- What is 'wine-development' supposed to do? Use *plain* Wine and no fancy wrappers, scripts or aliases otherwise the bug report will be automatically invalid. IMHO nothing to fix here (invalid bug). $ sha1sum Opera_25.0.1614.68_Setup.exe 4d22584fac71f63861409ecabde1bf8f9832addb Opera_25.0.1614.68_Setup.exe $ du -sh Opera_25.0.1614.68_Setup.exe 31M Opera_25.0.1614.68_Setup.exe $ wine --version wine-1.7.31 Regards -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. CTRL+C and everything is there: Maybe but I did this and nothing happens.
There are well known FIXME messages missing. OK. So which WINEDEBUG I should use? I didn't set this explicitly.
What is 'wine-development' supposed to do? Did you read which distribution is used? If not please look here: https://packages.debian.org/de/sid/wine-development

Well, starting apps with 'wine-development' is certainly not standard. Plain Wine doesn't provide such a command/wrapper. Most likely some Debian maintainer "invented" that thing for whatever reasons. That plus the absence of FIXME messages (they must appear without any WINEDEBUG set) I must assume your Wine has been modified to non-standard behaviour. Some guy probably thought that FIXME's are unnecessary noise and shut them off with 'WINEDEBUG=-all' by default. This modification is certainly not helpful at all and makes attachments of default terminal output *useless* unless the bug reporter knows how to set/override WINEDEBUG.
