[Bug 52428] New: Wine: could not load kernel32 error, unable to run any wine program
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52428 Bug ID: 52428 Summary: Wine: could not load kernel32 error, unable to run any wine program Product: Wine Version: 7.0 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: kernel32 Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: lukefeatherston1223(a)gmail.com Distribution: --- Created attachment 71687 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=71687 Winecfg error output I am running Arch Linux and had wine running perfectly prior to about 7.0-rc3 but after an update assumedly, no wine program will run on my system. Installing wine 6.16 makes it work perfectly but anything after breaks. To verify, I built wine from the source and still get this problem with 7.0. The problem goes away if I specify WINEARCH=32 when running a wine program. Winetricks completely fails to initialize getting stuck on mkdir -p /home/user/.wine with the wine debugger failing to load also. Winecfg spits out an error after creating the prefix but stalls indefinitely. Wineboot suffers the exact same problem as winecfg. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. However, when I launched from a different user, it worked perfectly so I think the error was on my end somehow. I resolved this by making a new home for my user and starting again. This isn't a fix for those with a similar problem as I have no idea what could have caused it but maybe this info will help in narrowing down the problem if others have this issue. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
