Information-Dialogs are shown, but as soon as the mainwindow is displayed, it crashes. Ofcourse this bug has nothing to do with skype! I tested the muck client with wine 1.1.24 and could reproduce the problem. The chm-helpfile window is messed up. And a second tiny window appears in the background, which has no client area (does not redraw) but has the titel of the muck client, which itself has a <2> added to the tile. I do not know which window that is. Under native windows there is no second window with the same title. While testing bug 9522, I noticed that on first-time launch of the MuckClient application, the introduction CHM help window is spawned twice with no client area, while on Windows only one such window is displayed with a normal client area. Standard error traces are attached.

This might be a duplicate of Bug #11303, which I am currently working on, but I'd need to see a more recent trace in order to know.
