[Bug 14027] New: No Mixers with X-Fi Linux Drivers
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14027 Summary: No Mixers with X-Fi Linux Drivers Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-dsound AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: jbdubbs(a)gmail.com It's a bit of an odd one, but here we go: No mixers are available when using Wine on Gentoo Linux with Wine 1.0 and previous, but only while using Creative X-Fi drivers version 1.18. Everything else on the system works fine, but Wine doesn't like these drivers Wine also works when I compile a different driver for use, such as emu10k1, intelhd, or whatever. Tell me what I need to do and I'll come up with the data so we can figure out if the driver or Wine is missing something to detect these mixers. System: Kernel 2.6.24 Gentoo Linux 2008.0 Beta 2 Alsa built from modules in kernel X-Fi drivers from http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Creative_Labs_X-Fi X-Fi Drivers piggyback on snd_usb drivers to input/output sound, so both must be used to function. Thanks! The only terminal output: jbdubbs(a)jbdubbspc ~ $ winecfg ALSA lib seq_hw.c:457:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such file or directory ALSA lib seq_hw.c:457:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such file or directory jbdubbs(a)jbdubbspc ~ $ -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

From the gentoo wiki: "Warning: You will most likely screw up some part of your system using these drivers and configuring them the way this guide suggests. The drivers are still unstable, there have been reports of crashing X, ALSA, and locking up the whole computer. Using these drivers is like waving a red flag at a bull..... -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I'm trying to figure out why, I'm well aware that the drivers are interesting. But what in particular is making them not work with Wine? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
