[Bug 25532] New: iTunes under Wine doesn't find shared libraries
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25532 Summary: iTunes under Wine doesn't find shared libraries Product: Wine Version: 1.3.9 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: computers57(a)hotmail.com It seems that iTunes 10.1 under Wine cannot find shared libraries. I think this has something to do with mdnsresponder not able to talk on the required port. Steps to reproduce: 1. Go to preferences in iTunes running either on Mac or natively on Windows. 2. click on Sharing. 3. Enable Music Sharing. 4. Go to a wine directory which has iTunes installed. 5. Start up iTunes under Wine. 6. Wait about a minute. 7. Look under Sharing on the sidebar. Expected result: You should see the shared library. Actual result: The share doesn't show up at all. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

If I turn on sharing on the iTunes running in Wine, the other computer's iTunes (in Mac) is able to see the library (but I have not tested music playback). Could this be some sort of firewall issue? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Betts <computers57(a)hotmail.com> 2011-01-07 17:47:52 CST --- This isn't a firewall issue, this is Bonjour/ZeroConf on Windows unable to get a list of Bonjour/ZeroConf services because Linux Bonjour/ZeroConf/Avahi is using that port. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

What does "lsof -i | grep mdns" say when you run iTunes like that on Wine? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I can confirm that I'm seeing the same behavior on Wine 1.3.19; iTunes running on Kubuntu x64 11.04 can't "see" other shared iTunes libraries, but conversely other iTunes clients can see and *play* music from the iTunes client (peer?) running on Ubuntu. Tried stopping the avahi-daemon service to see if that would allow the Linux iTunes client to see other shared libraries, but it did not. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25532 --- Comment #6 from C.W. Betts <computers57(a)hotmail.com> --- I have not seen any changes to Wine that would show the issue as fixed. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25532 --- Comment #7 from C.W. Betts <computers57(a)hotmail.com> --- My attempt at running iTunes is stymied when I tried to run the recent version on Ubuntu 14.4 (and wine updates provided by the Wine PPA) due to graphical glitches (which may be due to my GPU, a GMA 945), and with the old version just crashing outright. So I can't confirm or deny that iTunes can find shared music libraries. I think this issue is due to Bonjour installed via iTunes under Wine not being able to work due to the host OS's implementation of mdns hogging the port. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
