[Bug 18764] New: Wine update breaks gecko's js3250.dll
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18764 Summary: Wine update breaks gecko's js3250.dll Product: Wine Version: 1.1.22 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: Stuart(a)houseofanime.org Created an attachment (id=21520) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=21520) js3520.dll error Every time I update a version of wine (including reinstalling the same version as that installed) without removing the .wine directory first, I get the attached error when trying to navigate within DVD Profiler. DVD Profiler requires Gecko to run, as its interface is html/javascript based. If I delete the .wine directory and reinstall the software (thereby recreating a fresh .wine), the error is gone. I can't see anything different in the registries etc. that can trigger this, and this has happened reliably for many version releases. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18764 --- Comment #5 from Stuart Middleton <Stuart(a)houseofanime.org> 2009-06-06 03:45:16 --- Uploaded three files showing outputs from pre and post upgrade from wine 1.1.22 to 1.1.23. I tried to reproduce the error by reinstalling 1.1.23, but the damn thing worked! I think that I noticed the problem within the same version when I reinstalled wine from the OpenSuse 11.0 repository, replacing 1.1.22-1.1 with 1.1.22-2.1, so maybe my assessment of 'same version' was overstated. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

If so, close the bug as invalid. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18764 --- Comment #7 from Stuart Middleton <Stuart(a)houseofanime.org> 2009-06-06 14:30:22 --- Sorry, I messed up my previous comment. Let me try again: 0. Ran without error in 1.1.22-1.1 1. Upgrading from 1.1.22-1.1 to 1.1.22-2.1 gave the error as described. 2. Deleting .wine and reinstalling software removed the error. 3. Upgrading from 1.1.22-2.1 to 1.1.23-1.1 gave the error as described. 4. Deleting .wine and reinstalling software removed the error. 5. Reinstalling 1.1.23-1.1 over 1.1.23-1.1 (same version) did NOT give the error, contrary to my original post about reinstalling the same version. The outputs attached represent: * Output pre-update to wine (1.1.22) - output after step 2, but before step 3. * Output post update to wine (1.1.23) existing .wine - output after step 3, but before step 4. * Output post update to wine (1.1.23) creating new .wine - output after step 4. Hope I've not made another cock-up in what I've written. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18764 --- Comment #8 from Vitaliy Margolen <vitaliy(a)kievinfo.com> 2009-06-06 15:14:03 --- So as I understand it's working for you in wine-1.1.23 after you installed wine-1.1.23, removed ~/.wine directory, and reinstalled your program? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18764 --- Comment #9 from Stuart Middleton <Stuart(a)houseofanime.org> 2009-06-06 15:45:07 --- Yes. However, I expect the error to return when I install 1.1.24 if I don't delete the .wine directory and reinstall my software (assuming a fix doesn't make it into that version of course). I know that pre 1.0 the advice was always to start with a clean .wine, but I'm assuming that this philosophy is somewhat diluted by the stated aim of supporting upgrade from one version to another. Besides, this error is so consistent across versions that I find it hard to believe that code fixes are coming out every version that affects this (as I believe was the historical reason for deleting .wine - to prevent old configurations clashing with new fixes). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18764 --- Comment #10 from Stuart Middleton <Stuart(a)houseofanime.org> 2009-07-04 05:08:19 --- Error occurred immediately after upgrading to 1.1.24, but the error DID NOT occur after upgrading to 1.1.25. I'll give it another version update to be sure, but it seems that this bug may have been fixed. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
