[Bug 49151] New: Wine 5.7 Multiple mono programs freeze with high CPU
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49151 Bug ID: 49151 Summary: Wine 5.7 Multiple mono programs freeze with high CPU Product: Wine Version: 5.7 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: spikethehobbitmage(a)excite.com Distribution: --- Created attachment 67155 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=67155 Error logs. Output doesn't change between successful and failed runs. Starting with Wine 5.7, multiple mono programs freeze with high CPU shortly after starting. Wineserver also shows high CPU usage. Program window is only partially drawn and is completely unresponsive. Wine 5.8 is also affected. Wine 5.6 works correctly. A new, clean prefix was created for each wine version. Default settings with file associations and folders turned off in Desktop Integration. Tested programs: Aurora C# closed source, free download home page: http://aurora2.pentarch.org/ base install: http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php?topic=10635.0 1.9.0 patch: http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php?topic=11134.0 1.9.5 patch: http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php?topic=11299.0 Wine 5.6 glitchy but mostly playable. Wine 5.7, 5.8 incorrectly draws the main window too large, and some text is black instead of yellow. gedkeeper open source, complies and runs correctly using native Linux mono. home page: https://sourceforge.net/projects/gedkeeper/ git source: https://git.code.sf.net/p/gedkeeper/code Wine 5.6 works fine. Wine 5.7, 5.8 The scroll bar at the bottom of the language selection window isn't drawn, but otherwise that window works. Clicking OK then gives a partially drawn main window and freeze. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49151 --- Comment #1 from Rafał Mużyło <galtgendo(a)o2.pl> --- Run a little test: uninstall wine-mono 5.0.0, install wine-mono 4.9.4 and see if if the freeze still happens. I stumbled upon another program that also freezes at the start and wine-mono downgrade makes it work again. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49151 --- Comment #2 from Rafał Mużyło <galtgendo(a)o2.pl> --- Shall this be the same problem as mine, an interesting note: wine-mono 5.0.1 does make a difference, but not initially. First, I've just installed 5.0.1 and uninstalled 5.0.0 - was still freezing. Then I've installed 4.9.4 without uninstalling 5.0.1 - as expected, it worked. Then I've uninstalled 4.9.4...and for the time being the program keeps working (with 5.0.1, it that's not clear - at least unless one of all those uninstallls went *silently* wrong). ... Does that mean msiexec is misbehaving ? -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49151 --- Comment #3 from spike <spikethehobbitmage(a)excite.com> --- This appears to be the case, in that I've observed the reverse scenario: Downgrading wine to 4.6 does not fix affected prefixes created with 4.7 or 4.8. Such prefixes should have wine-mono 5.0.0 in them. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49151 --- Comment #4 from spike <spikethehobbitmage(a)excite.com> --- Finally got around to testing wine-mono 5.0.1 and it fixes the problem. As wine-mono 5.0.1 has not yet been incorporated into wine I'm leaving this bug open as the fix is still pending in wine itself. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Since 5.1 is going to be paired with wine 5.11, I'm calling this fixed. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
