I have the version available through Steam. The game only really started bogging down when I first encountered the bucket-head zombies. Menu seems to be okay, as is the actual playing of the game, but the process of picking seeds is very much laggy. When the game starts, CPU usage spikes to fill up an entire core. Confirming then. Make sure to post your video card and driver version you are using.

It's not fixed to me.
Parts where the Crazy Dave character appears are too much slow. The same for the seed choosing screen ...
The rest of the game runs smooth on the latest wine (1.7.12).
