[Bug 34000] New: Office 2007: installation usually aborts with "Installation language not supported."
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34000 Bug #: 34000 Summary: Office 2007: installation usually aborts with "Installation language not supported." Product: Wine Version: 1.6-rc4 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: iainbuc(a)gmail.com Classification: Unclassified I cleared out the .wine folder, mounted an ISO of "Office Home and Student 2007" then attempted installation: WINEARCH=win32 win32 /mnt/office/setup.exe Following the installation instructions on the website I've run winecfg and ensured that "Windows XP" mode is set. Most of the time the only dialog that appears is a small message box saying, "Installation language not supported." I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 with Wine 1.6-rc4. I've attached a trace from a failing run prefixed with WINEDEBUG=+msgbox,+relay,+seh,+tid Very, very occasionally (in about 10-15 runs I had two successes) it will manage to proceed, allowing me to enter my license key and then select components. It will then crash. I'm attaching two traces (bzipped) - one from a failing run and a truncated one from a successful run. I can provide a full trace from the semi-successful run, but it is fairly large (3.1MB bzipped, 250MB raw). -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34000 --- Comment #7 from Iain <iainbuc(a)gmail.com> 2013-07-10 08:34:10 CDT --- Rosanne, I can't test that unfortunately - my machine doesn't have a DVD drive. I made the ISO a while ago and used it install under Wine 1.5.27 without issues. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34000 --- Comment #9 from Iain <iainbuc(a)gmail.com> 2013-07-11 01:07:58 CDT --- Unfortunately the regression showed I was wrong about the working version. That must have been the version that fixed another bug (Excel crashing on text-to-columns). I'm not sure what I used to install. I'll try a few other releases from 1.4.1 and see if I can get it to install at all - anyone have any suggestions about a version that might let me install Office 2007? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34000 --- Comment #10 from Rosanne DiMesio <dimesio(a)earthlink.net> 2013-07-11 07:03:42 CDT --- Every version from 1.4 on should work. You're the only one reporting this problem, and IMO, it is probably due to your using a self-created iso. How did you create that iso? Does it work on Windows? Have you tried simply copying the contents of the iso to an ordinary directory and running setup.exe from there? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=34000 Iain <iainbuc(a)gmail.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED Resolution| |INVALID --- Comment #11 from Iain <iainbuc(a)gmail.com> 2013-07-11 08:22:26 CDT --- Thanks - the issue appears to be that the WINEPREFIX was on network storage rather than the disk image (although wouldn't have even thought of checking unless you'd mentioned the ISO). Pointing that to the local disk meant that the install completes without error. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
