[Bug 18355] New: Evochron Legends doesn't start
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18355 Summary: Evochron Legends doesn't start Product: Wine Version: 1.1.20 Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: nomax(a)arcadebelgium.be Created an attachment (id=20909) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=20909) Error messages Launching Evochron Legends shows a black screen, game custom mouse cursor can be seen briefly. At this point, escape key is the only way to exit the game. Some OpenGL, Direct3D and DirectDraw error messages are shown (see attachment). I'm using an ATI X1600 XT with the Mesa DRI R300 20060815 TCL driver so this may be the problem. Someone with another graphic card/proprietary divers should test it (the time limited demo is freely available: http://www.starwraith.com/evochron_legends.exe). Game includes a sort of "safe-mode" for low-end graphic cards (create an empty file named "legacytextures.txt" in game directory to activate). But result is the same. According to official website, this game requires DirectX 9.0c to run. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18355 --- Comment #2 from Xavier Vincent <nomax(a)arcadebelgium.be> 2010-11-22 08:55:14 CST --- Created an attachment (id=32076) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=32076) Wine 1.2.1 output for Evochron Legends v1.288 With Wine v1.2.1 and Evochron Legends v1.288, things are a bit different. When launched, the in-game mouse cursor appears briefly, then the screen becomes totally black, flickers a few times, then becomes white. An error window finally pops up reading: "Error In Program - Runtime Error : ERROR 99." (In previous versions, the game crashed without any error message). Evochron Legends seems to be coded in DarkBasic. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18355 --- Comment #4 from GyB <gyebro69(a)gmail.com> 2012-06-06 10:40:20 CDT --- Created attachment 40413 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=40413 +tid,+d3dxof log Still present as of wine-1.5.5-182-g8c83c66, I tested with Evochron Legends demo v1.288. Workaround: native d3dxof.dll With native d3dxof the game begins to load (text, showing the loading progress is overwritten in the lower left corner of the screen), but it hangs at certain point and Wine prints the following message endlessly:
err:d3d_surface:surface_download_data Trying to read back converted surface 0x1f6f90 with format WINED3DFMT_B8G8R8X8_UNORM. This is probably a different issue. Let's make this bug report about the problem in d3dxof that keeps the game from starting at all.
