I just returned from being out. I use cvs and the fonts directory never has the
make file run. Running it from that directory gives

[paul(a)localhost wine]$ cd fonts
[paul(a)localhost fonts]$ make
false -script ../fonts/genttf.ff courier.sfd courier.ttf
make: *** [courier.ttf] Error 1

I have these installed
libfreetype6-devel-2.1.10-9.1.20060mdk
libfreetype6-2.1.10-9.1.20060mdk
freetype-1.3.1-23.mdk
freetype-tools-1.3.1-23.mdk
fontconfig-2.3.2-5mdk
and several fonts 

Find files of fon* and *.ttf in the wine tree show no fonts
In my ~/.wine/c:/windows/fonts I have 75 *.ttf and *.TTF fonts. No ms_sans_serif
or system.
The fonts were from win 95 install with qemu and imported into Linux.

Using winefile's change font dialog shows the same 85 fonts if I rename
c:/windows/fonts something else. But with c:/windows/fonts renamed the min/max
close icons don't show.
