[Bug 9647] New: iTunes 7 sound loopy, unstable
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9647 Summary: iTunes 7 sound loopy, unstable Product: Wine Version: CVS/GIT Platform: Other OS/Version: other Status: NEW Keywords: download Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: wine-misc AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com With today's git, you can install and run iTunes 7 with absolutely no configuration (not even winecfg to pick audio). However, the audio playback is flaky. Little snippets of songs repeat themselves, e.g. when switching songs or when just scrolling up and down in the song window. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9647 --- Comment #1 from Juan Lang <juan_lang(a)yahoo.com> 2007-09-14 22:52:56 --- Found this little snippet on the Crossover support faq: My iTunes sound is silent, choppy, or full of static. How can I fix it? iTunes doesn't work perfectly with all sound cards. The first thing to try is to switch your iTunes sound to "waveOut" mode. 1. Run OfficeSetup, and go to the Control Panel tab. 2. Run the QuickTime Control Panel app by clicking on the "Q" icon. 3. Select the Sound Out settings, and change the device for playback setting to "waveOut". 4. If you know the preferred sample rate of your sound hardware, change the Rate setting as well. Might that help here too? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9647 --- Comment #2 from Jim Lockname <hotline(a)mac-email.com> 2008-02-17 20:42:48 --- I've had the same issue in Windows. My videocard isn't standard. Setting hardware acceleration to lower, or using the waveout mode fixed the problem. I believe this bug to be a hardware-specific issue for the Windows system, and thus probably not fixable by WINE. Did the tip help, or can anyone else confirm the bug? Otherwise this bug could be closed. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9647 --- Comment #3 from Jim Lockname <hotline(a)mac-email.com> 2008-02-17 20:44:35 --- Sorry, soundcard isn't standard. Chaintech AV-710. Acceleration setting is in dxdiag, also in the Sound control panel under Audio properties and Performance. I have no idea if this helps WINE. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9647 --- Comment #4 from Dan Kegel <dank(a)kegel.com> 2008-02-21 19:27:05 --- I tried the tip in #2 by running cd ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/QuickTime/QTSystem ~/wine-git/programs/control/control QuickTime.cpl and checking 'Safe Mode' under Audio. Didn't help. Fun trick: activate the File menu and then move the mouse around to different menus. Each time it takes about half a second to switch to the next menu, which is exactly synchronized with a half second stutter/repeat! http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9647 Dan Kegel <dank(a)kegel.com> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|NEW |RESOLVED Resolution| |FIXED --- Comment #5 from Dan Kegel <dank(a)kegel.com> 2008-04-16 19:25:21 --- Seems much improved. It's no longer loopy. It still skips when provoked, but (at least on one machine) playing with the File etc. menu doesn't cause trouble anymore. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
