Product: Wine Version: 1.1.24 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: schelehond(a)gmail.com After installing steam i start the app with wine steam.exe which results in the following output: CellID: Fetching server list from CSDS. . . fixme:process:SetProcessShutdownParameters (00000100, 00000000): partial stub. fixme:urlmon:CoInternetSetFeatureEnabled 5, 0x00000002, 1, stub fixme:urlmon:CoInternetSetFeatureEnabled 10, 0x00000002, 1, stub CellID: CSDS returned 172 servers. CellID: Connecting to 203.77.185.185:27031. . . CellID: timeout connecting to 203.77.185.185:27031 CellID: Connecting to 79.141.165.2:27031. . . CellID: Connect to 79.141.165.2:27031 took 47 MS CellID: Nothing beat our old best time of 11 MS Deleting active MRSW lock (0x114dfc), expect failure That's it. Nothing more happens. When I deleted the clientregistry.blob file mentioned in plenty of other howto's. Running steam afterwards just makes it update right before the same output as mentioned above is displayed. I've seen this too, when steam wants to update. The thing is, I'm having the same exact problems on win2k. Once out of 5-10 runs steam will hang on start.
I'd say this is an application bug. Can anyone else confirm if they are seeing the same problem on Windows?
I have run steam/css before on XP and Vista machines for several years and never encountered this problem. I wonder if this is an update issue: steam seems to update fine when I delete the clientregistry.blob. Then I start steam and what I described above happens again. When I delete the .blob file, update goes to 99%, and steam closes up. The only way i got steam to come up was to kill the "services.exe"-process. After that, i got the loginscreen for steam. The login and the download of cs:s worked without any problems. At this time i still trying to get cs:s to run, but hl2.exe crashes in every try. Something screwy is going on...that's steam's own dll messing up. Maybe from 1.1.24 which was the version used for this bug report. But at the moment I don't have the time to test. Here is my system informations : kalessin:0:~% uname -a ; cat /etc/debian_version;wine --version Linux kalessin 2.6.26-2-amd64 #1 SMP Mon Oct 19 02:34:17 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux 5.0.3 wine-1.1.32 kalessin:0:~% Of course I have tried to reinstall steam, etc. The best result was obtained by pkilling services.exe just after launching steam. As advised here. But then, when I try to login, steam freezes.
