[Bug 59268] New: crashes in 16-bit XP-era application on wow64
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59268 Bug ID: 59268 Summary: crashes in 16-bit XP-era application on wow64 Product: Wine Version: 11.0 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@list.winehq.org Reporter: andyrox28@clowmail.com Distribution: --- Created attachment 80197 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=80197 errors and trace for page fault I have an old 16-bit Win XP dictionary application running on kernel 5.15.193 under wow64. It's amazing to be able to run this thing with Wine 11.0 on an oldish 64-bit system (with propriatery Nvidia 340.108 x11-only driver). Unfortunately in this case it still seems quite unstable due to different types of errors (see attachment). The same application works fine on a similar native 32-bit 5.15.193 installation with Intel i915 driver. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Is there a freely and legal donwload to reproduce the problem? And attach the full console output, not a snipset -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59268 --- Comment #3 from Andyrox <andyrox28@clowmail.com> --- This is a 20-year old propriatery Swedish dictionary app by Norstedts, so I unfortunatelly cannot provide it and this old version is not available for download. I understand you cannot cover all usecases but thought it was useful to report it. I'm attaching updated overview of errors and traces. If I figure out something useful using WINEDEBUG I would report it here. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. How reproducible are any of them? Are they all intermittent? When do they happen? -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59268 --- Comment #5 from Andyrox <andyrox28@clowmail.com> --- It's easily reproducible as the app crashes either on start-up when the main app window does not appear at all or just briefly flashes and crashes, OR after the start-up when the main window shows up correctly but crashes 1) after bringing focus in or out of the window (sometimes on first such action without interacting with the window) or 2) after interacting/clicking inside the window in a certain way. So the crashes are pretty much random. Obviously there can be something unusual/broken about the app itself but it's true that it works fine on 32-bit system with wine 10.x on kernel 5.15.193. (Maybe also of interest, the app worked fine on this 32-bit system with kernel 5.15.12x, then stopped working on kernel 5.15.16x due to a mutex deadlock, then worked again on 5.15.193; unfortunately I cannot try the app on kernels 6.x at the moment.) -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
