Elster is the official German program required to submit various tax
statements.

It installs and starts with wine, with some problems.

The update functionality however fails with the cryptic message "Externe
Exception C0FB007E", if MFC42.DLL is not installed.

Since this has stumped me and several people in mailing lists, I'm submitting
it here for everyone to see.

This can be fixed by installing mfc42.dll (to Elster's program directory, or to
windows/system), as described in bug #657. vcredist.exe e.g. contains
mfc42.dll.
