[Bug 20970] New: Word 2007: Insert special character quick entry box is blank for non-system fonts
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20970 Summary: Word 2007: Insert special character quick entry box is blank for non-system fonts Product: Wine Version: 1.1.34 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: leighmanthegreat(a)hotmail.com Created an attachment (id=25137) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=25137) Empty drop-down I use Garamond font for most things, added from mscorefonts or from my Windows partition or something? On the 'Insert' tab of the ribbon there is the button to insert a symbol, which when you click the arrow underneath displays the most recently used ones. For fonts such as Arial and Garamond this is blank, although clicking any of the spaces will insert whatever character should be there. For Liberation fonts etc. it works correctly. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

The symbols in the drop-down box display fine on my system for Garamond and Arial. Does setting an override for riched20 make a difference? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

On further investigation Arial and Garamond are both fonts that I copied over to /.fonts at some point, however there are numerous others which don't do this. It appears to be only these two. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

As above, Arial and Garamond. I suspect it's just a problem with my installation then :/ -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Closing.
I removed my .fonts folder then went to .wine/windows/Fonts and installed the Garamond fonts from there. This fixed my problem. The previous ones were copied from my Windows partition. The problem seems to be that the version installed by Word in the wine folder was uppercase. That in .fonts was lower case. Could this have been causing some kind of conflict and is this a Wine bug (Linux case sensitivity) in this case? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Whatever font file the application picks up it should still work.
So it is a bug in wine? It now works when the fonts are: uppercase in .fonts and .wine/windows/Fonts It did not work when the fonts were: lowercase in .fonts and uppercase in .wine/windows/Fonts Or is this something that could only be fixed by some kind of ciopfs? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
