I have built wine-staging from master now, but I have to try it later today. I'll let you know how it turns out. I'm not entirely sure that it's a problem with staging, as I think it is a regression in Wine. We'll see. (In reply to Bruni from comment #2)
Hello Håkon,
Did you employ dgvoodoo2 or DXVK when you got sims working with Wine-staging 4.2?
Thanks
No, I have not installed DXVK or any other third party libraries. The only thing I did, was the following: * Create a fresh 32-bit wineprefix * Set Windows-version to XP * Installed The Sims Double Deluxe. * Start Sims.exe Even though the game is running, it has some bugs and remains unplayable. The bugs are "invisible sims" (this one) and the game hangs when opening a menu. I think the game would be playable when those bugs are fixed -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Can you please test with current (Staging) git?
Hi, I've finally gotten around testing a custom build of wine-staging from git. I built the following commits: Wine: 6d82b2f1ad0e8d1d7a3b7060ee4993560b499989 Wine-staging: 01adefa75cc60d1607439c9b38f486c4a6f76695 With my custom build, the sims are visible once again. There are some glitches, but they are unrelated to this bug. It seems like the game does not redraw as it should, as the sims suddenly appear other places in the house. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. There are some glitches, but they are unrelated to this bug. It seems like the game does not redraw as it should, as the sims suddenly appear other places in the house.
Are those glitches the same in mainstream Wine, or do they appear just in Staging? -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

I'll make a custom build of wine and check if it is. I would think they are in mainstream Wine too -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Even better, I've attached a video-file displaying the bug. It's also displaying that The Sims hangs when a menu is opened. For the video I used Wine-staging (the same git commits as earlier) -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. The Sims does not start when I try it using Wine devel. I made a custom build from the git-ref I've used earlier (git commit 6d82b2f1ad0e8d1d7a3b7060ee4993560b499989) -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. I tried with Wine-devel, now, and it still does not work… For now, it seems like The Sims is only working with wine-staging. Is the issue 'The Sims has invisible sims' with wine-staging fixed or not? If it's not fixed, then reopen. If it's fixed, then please file other bugs and discuss the remaining issues there, because it's confusing to have a bug RESOLVED WORKSFORME and the OP still saying that it doesn't work. Also, please, add your comments on these open bugs: The Sims not redrawing: bug 43411 Crash at startup: bug 45250 -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Is the issue 'The Sims has invisible sims' with wine-staging fixed or not? The bug is fixed in wine-staging, that's correct. However, I will test with Wine-Staging 4.4 once it's released
If it's not fixed, then reopen. If it's fixed, then please file other bugs and discuss the remaining issues there, because it's confusing to have a bug RESOLVED WORKSFORME and the OP still saying that it doesn't work. When people asks if it also works in wine-devel, my answer is that it does not work (as the videos shows). I thought that I made it clear when uploading the new files, that they are for wine-devel, not wine-staging.
