There is no rendering nor sound when the game is not focused -- I believe that's intended. After that a sound or two play occasionally (such as right after entering the main menu or a new game) but not much else. There's a demo download available at least on FilePlanet ( http://www.fileplanet.com/60713/60000/fileinfo/Independence-War-2:-The-Edge-... ). I got similar error log messages that Jerome described. ( I use the 2 CD version Edge Of Chaos, patched on F14.6, with Wine 1.3.5 on Debian Squeeze ) I solved these sound issues by a native quartz.dll override. I was wrong. It does help, just not on the menu screen. This freeze is still here and making the game unplayable. winetricks quartz devenum still works around it. I'm happy to report, however, that the original sound issues are gone, more or less. The game still sometimes loses sound, alt-tab still restores it, but it's much rarer now. Closing this bug. I'll file a new one for the freeze.
