The demo runs perfectly fine and the installer of the final does too. Wine version is 1.1.7, sys is opensuse 11.0 32bit, game language is german. The game starts without any sound and shows the menu. Changing settings (sound volume etc.) work as does leaving the game (this is what the log below shows). Upon starting a new game it just continues producing fmod errors, hogging 99% cpu and nothing happens. kill -9 to bsengine.exe is the only way. Waiting too long crashes konsole at some point (maybe history buffer overflow?). I didn't attach it because I edited it heavily, the original is ~90MB.
There's probably something wrong with your sound configuration. What are you using? OSS? ALSA? Pulseaudio?
Pulseaudio, sound is routed to the mediabox connected to the amplifier. Wine is set to jack output but alsa works equally well. I just compiled wine myself (wine-1.1.8-285-g88154cf) and now esound works too for Diablo 2 and Fallout 2 (the only other games I have installed atm) but Broken Sword 2.5 still gives errors. I iterated through the sound options, 44100 and 48000, emulated, accelerated full standard and not without any luck.
