It needs mfc42, then without native gdiplus, you'll hit bug 31536. The installer then gets a bit further, before showing a visual C++ error dialog. I tried native vcrun2005/8/10, but none helped. lsof shows it's using msvc90m, so I suspect it may be a problem in mono. I took a brief stab at trying native dotnet35sp1 (what it wants if you remove mono), but that isn't installing for me currently. But, it never crashes for me, that may be mac specific. If it still crashes make sure you have debugging symbols installed. Oddly, the download now gives a different sha1; I got 0bc036eac48a4c167f3a88aca66c3fcc33968f23 ToadforSQLServer_Freeware_5.7.0.605.zip I just tested with 32 bit wine-1.6-rc4-52-g9a0b434. Did 'winetricks mfc42' as Austin said, to avoid dll registration errors in log, but then the installer hung at the end during 'publishing product information'. Tried 'winetricks dotnet35sp1' as Austin suggested (it now spews two dialogs saying that .net 2 sp1 and .net 3 sp1 could not be uninstalled, with log lines err:msi:ITERATE_Actions Execution halted, action L"CA_Block_NetFx20SP1_SXSDisabled_Uninstall" returned 1603 ... err:msi:ITERATE_Actions Execution halted, action L"CA_Block_NetFx30SP1_SXSDisabled_Uninstall" returned 1603 but otherwise seems to finish ok), and sure enough, that got past the hang; the installer now says "Toad is optimizing the code... this may take several minutes..." and shows a progress bar animation while NGenWrapper.exe does its thing.
