The output from running total annihilation using wine

on this page

it is written that multiplayer over lan doing 1 vs 1 works in Total
Annihilation

I have just tried with wine 0.9.52 and it does not it gives this error

clicking ipx as connection type:

If you look at the howto carefully, multiplayer reportedly worked because
they're using the Windows directplay dlls.

I looked further down the page. turned out the person used windows dll's to get
it going. So this is not a regression or anything.

Now i have added dll's i can click tcp/ip and it goes into the server list. I
create a new server and as soon as i setup server i get that output.

I found out whats going on. You have to set those dll's globally. I'm pretty
sure what was happening before was the dplayserver.exe was using wine dlls
instead of windows ones.


In all the howto's below the game information they say you need to do a dll
overide. I think it should be specifically said that the dll overides need to
be done globally.

Also the game dies when you win. It just slows down/locks up. You can move the
mouse but the game doesnt do anything. Everything else still works perfectly.
Same thing happens when you press the 'previous' button once you have created a
server. Can anything be done about that? 
this is the only thing reported at these times
fixme:msg:pack_message msg 14 (WM_ERASEBKGND) not supported yet
but i dont think that is locking it up?

This ticket has not been updated for over 900 days. Development recommends
to check the status on your bug every release or two and let to be known if the
bug is still present. If not, mark it fixed. If you are no longer able to put
effort to this ticket, you can abandon it.

Is this still an issue with 1.7.2 or higher ?
