Occasionally I will remove my WOW64 prefix because I need a fresh wine enviroment. After wine sets up the new enviroment (as WOW64) I try to install MDAC 2.8 using winetricks (using windows XP version). Sometimes MDAC will install fine like there was no issues with the WOW64 enviroment. But more often than not, the installer complains that it cannot install on my system and refuses to install. I have tried installing MDAC before all the c++ and .net runtimes and tried installing after all the runtimes, its the same result. Right now I have a working WOW64 prefix with MDAC 2.8 installed, but when I try to run the installer using this prefix, it says it cannot install on this system. I am at a loss because it happens randomly. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Winetricks seems to output: warning: This package (mdac28) does not work on a 64-bit installation. You must use a prefix made with WINEARCH=win32. Maybe provide some logs or something? -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52148 --- Comment #4 from Ben Shefte <shefben(a)gmail.com> --- I know winetricks has that warning about WIN64, but does that warning take into consideration, WOW64? As I said before, despite that warning; sometimes mdac will install with no issue on a WOW64 system. Obviously the easy way around this issue is creating a WIN32 prefix. Problem with that is that I don't want to have multiple wine directories, and i do use some 64bit apps.. I am more interested to know if anyone else has had this problem, I know mdac 2.8 can be installed on 64bit windows 7. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
