I had to do a bunch of jiggery-pokery to get
Tomeraider to install, and when I finally ran
it, it aborted with "res is not a registered protocol".
That appears to be a Mozilla ActiveX plugin error, and 
is also reported against PartyPoker,

for what it's worth.

It also complained loudly and often:
fixme:ntdll:NtDeviceIoControlFile Unsupported ioctl 8010204c (device=8010
access=0 func=813 method=0)
just like TruePoker is said to,

(Poker is obviously the best stress test of wine.)

To reproduce, here's the jiggery-pokery I had to do to get it to install:
first, if it's not already in cvs, apply
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2006-June/028035.html

then set up a clean environment for testing, with a fake IE registry
key, and a copy of mfc42.dll:

rm -rf .wine
wine notepad
wineserver -k
cat >> $HOME/.wine/system.reg <<"_EOF_"
