[Bug 13272] New: Scrapland: ACCESS VIOLATION when starting
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13272 Summary: Scrapland: ACCESS VIOLATION when starting Product: Wine Version: 1.0-rc1 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P3 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: nmatra(a)citromail.hu Black screen hangs and I have to kill the process to get my Desktop back. I only see the error message about access violation when I switch Wine to Emulate Desktop. I get it with a PC-GURU magazine, without protection. (On Win it starts without the disc) Maybe the original doesn't have this issue. Log attached. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13272 --- Comment #15 from Alessandro Pezzoni <alessandro_pezzoni(a)lavabit.com> 2011-12-18 14:31:44 CST --- This seems to be a video playback issue. After renaming the Scrapland/Video folder the game runs fine. That folder contains some avi cutscenes and some intro videos (with .vds extension). Moreover, this bug affects some Windows versions too (see e.g. [1]). I tried setting various Windows versions in wine (namely XP, 2000, 98, NT 4.0), but that didn't help. On Windows ffdshow seem to be interfering with the in-game video player [2], but I don't know if this can be helpful. I have the very same version of Scrapland that the bug was was originally reported for. (from PC-GURU magazine)
It installs and runs on Arch Linux x64 with Wine 1.9.11 (32bit prefix). Windows version was set to XP.
There are a lot of fixme messages, but most of them are related to it not being able to play the cinematics. Other than that, it starts up with no problems.
Sounds fixed to me then. Are you also the original bug reporter? -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
