The installer would run fine, but ultimately the installation directories would not be created, and the installation files were all dumped into the current working directory. The errors from BioEdit are attached. BioEdit is freely available here, http://www.mbio.ncsu.edu/bioedit/bioedit.html The WineHQ says BioEdit 7.0.9 is Gold status. I tried both 7.0.9 and the latest 7.1.3 and had the same problem. I used both the main Ubuntu version 1.3.28 and the latest ppa version 1.3.33, and had the same problem. The only tweaks are installation of corefonts, tahoma, opensymbol, and mdac28 (the latter is required for BioEdit to run). The installer was behaving as before, but then I randomly decided to try to change the installation directory. The dialog popped up, but the location selected was "_BrowseProperty" and it couldn't be changed either with the selector or the "Parent directory" button. After clicking Ok a couple of times, the installer crashed and gave me this backtrace (attached).
