I am confirming the originally reported bug. RNS 6.2 is available for download at http://www.raymarine.com/knowledgebase/index.cfm?view=5313 I have contacted CXO. They (Andrew Balfour) have tried running it and confirmed that it also fails. I have attached traceback files for both the CXO and straight-stick wine implementations. I'll be pleased to help with patch testing, just let me know how. It does run just fine under VirtualBox. My OS is openSUSE 12.3. The latter starts with Disable HSB Server checked. There are sixteen possible options, so checking them all is not feasible... (even 16 choose 2 renders 120 different combinations... :-( So brute force won't work. I did try disabling the CMAP, Intellimouse, and other obvious options to minimize the number of variables, but it still crashes after the splash screen. Maybe the backtrace gives a clue to someone accomplished in reading such things...
