I was asked by Lucas Fialho Zawacki to make some comparison of my wheel between
WinXP and Wine. I took Need for Speed Underground 1 for the tests:

 Options -> Controller -> Controller Setup -> "2nd column":

WinXP says: "Wheel"
Wine says: "Joypad"

Tested with:
 * wheel "Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP"
 * wine-1.3.24-174-g4b4dd30.

I don't think much has changed related to joysticks but since it's been a long

Last call before abandoning since this requires specific hardware. If possible
attach a +dinput log with the controller attached in at least wine 2.0-rcX.

There's been a lot of changes to dinput lately, I don't really expect this to
be solved, but last call was 6 years ago, maybe this could be flagged as
