[Bug 21521] New: Improper audio selection
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21521 Summary: Improper audio selection Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: thekevinday(a)gmail.com On the olpc xo-1, when any application is started (like winecfg or regedit) the wrong audio setting gets toggled. That is, when I start one of these programs, the microphone gets turned on and audio tries to play back through the microphone. I confirmed this by selecting the test audio from winecfg and audible electrical feedback was coming from the microphone area. Under alsamixer I can turn the mic back off by disabling the "MIC Bias Enable" option. I have watched this option get turned on when starting something like regedit. I am using a hardened linux from scratch system with uClibc-nptl and gcc-4.4.3. As a comparison, I tested the same system on a different machine with no such immediate weirdness. wine-1.1.37 -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21521 --- Comment #2 from Kevin Day <thekevinday(a)gmail.com> 2010-01-29 13:15:12 --- I came across a couple of other computers that would change the volume information whenever a wine application gets started. These applications seem to at least select the proper PCM, but they all get muted and the volume level is set to 0. This is not true for every system I have tried, but for those that are affected, the problem consistently happens. I am suspecting that there are two bugs in play here: 1) the wine audio improperly identifies the MIC as the PCM device for the olpc xo-1 2) for some reason wine things it should change the system volume level whenever it starts up for selected pieces of hardware I am attaching the specs of one of the affected non-olpc systems. I will attach the log of the other whenever I get the chance.
