http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33658 --- Comment #2 from sworddragon2(a)aol.com 2013-05-27 15:17:49 CDT --- Why is this not a Wine bug? Does Warcraft 3 crash on Windows too in this case? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33658 --- Comment #3 from sworddragon2(a)aol.com 2013-05-27 15:28:06 CDT --- Edit: I have tested this now on some other Wine applications: Diablo 3, Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2 are running fine if the sound permissions are missing. Only Warcraft 3 is crashing. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Some windows applications will crash in that case. Your user needs access to the audio device. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33658 sworddragon2(a)aol.com changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|CLOSED |UNCONFIRMED Resolution|INVALID | --- Comment #5 from sworddragon2(a)aol.com 2013-08-10 14:28:08 CDT --- I have now tested this with Windows XP. If I'm disabling the sound device and starting Warcraft 3 it is not crashing - it is even complaining that the sound-service couldn't be initialized. This also means that Warcraft 3 is already catching sound problems and that the crash on Linux could be indeed a bug on Wine. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Your system was broken. I guess Wine shouldn't crash, but... (In reply to Austin English from comment #4)
Some windows applications will crash in that case. Your user needs access to the audio device.
If that's the case then Wine is mimicking Windows, which it is supposed to do. Is it even possible to deny access to the sound device in Windows? I've never heard of this ever being done. I doubt that it can be. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
