I have attached the console output. I am using a fully updated wine 1.0 and a fresh winetricks script with which I did: chmod a+x winetricks ./winetricks vcredist_x86-VC2005.exe ./winetricks vcrun2005 ./winetricks vcrun2005sp1 ./winetricks tahoma ./winetricks msi2 ./winetricks vcrun6 ./winetricks vcrun2005 ./winetricks vcrun2005sp1 I re-ran the vcrun2005s in case vcrun6 overwrote more recent files. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

With today's Git (wine-1.1.7-221-gcefa1e8), when attempting to install DAZStudio with DAZStudio_2_1_1_13_win.exe, the installer erroneously attempts to create a directory at path Z:\DAZ, even though the application install directory is set to C:\Program Files\DAZ\Studio.
That is actually an annoying "feature" of DAZ3D's Bitrock installer. For some strange reason DAZ3D feel it essential that the installer creates a scratch directory at the root of whatever drive (or virtual drive in the case of Wine) the installer is located on. Their older installers did not do this. I filed a bug report with DAZ3D about this behaviour, as it is annnoying whatever OS you are running the installer under, but they closed the report as won't fix. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

A winedbg run shows a backtrace in cscript.exe that may be the cause of the installer hang. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Is this still an issue in current (1.1.32 or newer) wine?
I'm afraid it still does, at least for DAZ Studio 2. DAZ Studio 3 suffers from a different installer bug, It crashes at the beginning with this message: Error creating directory D:/download/scene/DAZ/Dazstudio/DS3/***unknown variable system_temp_directory*** I'm not sure If I should create a separate bug for that as I have a nasty feeling both problems are caused by DAZ3D's programmers misconfiguring the Bitrock installer, which they now use for all their products. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12931 --- Comment #10 from Dan Kegel <dank(a)kegel.com> 2009-11-23 08:22:53 --- Looks like http://bitrock.com has a free trial. I wonder if it would be easy to reproduce this with a "hello, world" installer that referenced that variable. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
