I'm not sure whether it's the same problem, but testing the Tomb Raider II demos with Wine 1.3.34, the program shows a MS VC++ "abnormal program termination" dialog box and this console output: surface.c:5149: unsafe_impl_from_IDirectDrawSurface: Assertion `iface->lpVtbl == &ddraw_surface1_vtbl' failed.
I can try a regression test and open a new bug for that if needed? I think that's essentially bug 27482.
