I'm also getting an error caused by the same thing, but slightly differently:

That same 30 verses file opened in Wine's notepad:

X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).

In Windows XP's notepad:

X Error of failed request:  BadRequest (invalid request code or no such
operation)
  Major opcode of failed request:  0 ()
  Serial number of failed request:  1257
  Current serial number in output stream:  1256

This is with wine-0.9.45-217-g088e27c.
