It has a brand new audio API, and through previous patches has been known to cause errors. Blizzard have just released another patch for their test server, known as Public Test Realm (PTR). This bug was reported earlier, bug was closed whilst the original reporter waited on a new PTR build. Blizzard have shipped PTR 7153, and the bug remains.
From the earlier bug report, I have followed these instructions to generate a Wine debug log.

This removes the audio crash from WoW 2.2 OSS - confirmed. I don't have the ability right now to test under ALSA. The one-liner patch does work for me, even in ALSA mode. I too do not have a mic so I can't test how well voip works, but at least we have audio now. Huzzah. Logs in with sound now (fonts are screwed up - too tiny in random places - but that may be unrelated). This might be some buffer reading/writing issue with dsound, or something like that I guess. iirc, I had some trouble running in "Full" support in winecfg (broken sound output, faster sound, distorted sound), but was okay in Standard mode.
