[Bug 30452] New: Reaper 3.672 will not start
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30452 Bug #: 30452 Summary: Reaper 3.672 will not start Product: Wine Version: 1.5.2 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: kernel32 AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: winebugs(a)drealm.info Classification: Unclassified Created attachment 39811 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=39811 Error reporter output Invoking reaper.exe results in display of the splash screen, the main window and a dialog asking whether to check sound driver settings. Picking either option results in a crash. This version of reaper is known to have been working under wine 1.3.x. Initial testing was without wineasio. The same error occurred once (a 1.3.x version of) wineasio was installed. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30452 --- Comment #2 from Peter L Jones <winebugs(a)drealm.info> 2012-04-15 18:20:45 CDT --- OS is Ubuntu oneiric with wine 1.5 from http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-wine/ppa/ubuntu Also tested with wine 1.4 from same source - same error. I've now also tried reverting to Canonical 1.3 and 1.2 -- the error reporting wasn't helpful, unfortunately, so whilst it crashed at the same point I can't be sure it's the same error. I'm tempted to close this as I know it was working on an earlier Ubuntu release, so it's likely not a WINE error. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

It's completely external project. As to your crash: - Install wine debug symbols (wine*-dbg package from your distro) - Attach complete terminal out as described here: http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log - Unhandled exception: unimplemented function usp10.dll.ScriptStringAnalyse called in 32-bit code (0x7b839f82). Builtin version has this function. If you have any overrides in winecfg - remove them. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30452 --- Comment #4 from Peter L Jones <winebugs(a)drealm.info> 2012-04-16 03:39:35 CDT --- I am one of the wineasio maintainers. As noted in the initial report, this error occurs independent of the presence of wineasio. Reaper is not dependent upon wineasio. There are no overrides in my winecfg. With wine1.5-dbg installed, clicking the "Save" button on the Program Error Details "Save As" dialog causes a hang. Eventually Xming crashed without letting me get a screenshot..! The hang on save is reproducible, though. I have captured the output of the following ./reaper.exe > backtrace.log 2>&1 Note: the wiki states "Important: if you get a crash dialog while doing this, please click OK. Otherwise your log will be incomplete." This is incorrect. You have to click "Close". -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30452 --- Comment #6 from Peter L Jones <winebugs(a)drealm.info> 2012-04-16 05:06:26 CDT --- I have now 1) Deleted ~/.wine 2) Run "winecfg" just to create it 3) Run "regsvr32 wineasio" to re-register the service 4) Installed reaper-3.76 (I didn't have 3.672 to hand) 5) Selected the "dummy" audio interface after checking the available list of drivers included wineasio. Even with "dummy" selected the app crashed. However, it started cleanly on the next run and is stable. As a clean install has cleared the error, I'd suggest closing this report. I'll investigate the wineasio side here. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30452 --- Comment #7 from Vitaliy Margolen <vitaliy-bugzilla(a)kievinfo.com> 2012-04-16 08:12:32 CDT ---

Interesting, looks like a damaged library. If that's the case the only reason it's working now you might have a newer native version of usp10.dll installed. Can you check of the above library is not damaged? And possibly reinstall Wine packages? About wineasio - it's a second issue and not related to this bug it seems. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30452 --- Comment #8 from Peter L Jones <winebugs(a)drealm.info> 2012-04-16 09:29:30 CDT --- The delete of ~/.wine does appear to be what fixed it - the dll that now resides in ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/usp10.dll is identical to /usr/lib32/wine/fakedlls/usp10.dll from wine-1.5.2 dated 12 April 2012. I can only agree with your conclusion that somehow my ~/.wine copy of the dll was damaged. I don't have a back-up of my home directory to hand to check, unfortunately. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
