[Bug 10299] New: TF2 Directx 8 Required
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10299 Summary: TF2 Directx 8 Required Product: Wine Version: 0.9.48. Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P3 Component: wine-directx AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org ReportedBy: Snub_Fighter(a)snubfighter.com After getting to the load screen it crashes with an error "This game requires directx 8 to run properly" I've gone into CS:S and it showed it starting with dx6 but I force it to 8.1 and everything was fine. However even trying to force TF2 to 8.1 did not work. Switching to a previous version of wine just causes TF2 to crash. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Pixel shaders are a dx8 feature, so disabling it will obviously complain about that. Please change the configuration.
still errors with pixel shader enabled, I'm gonna try compiling from source, I did that a couple of ubuntu installs back before the package was out and I was able to run portals at the time, so I'm willing to bet it might get tf2 to do that same. I haven't tried portals with this install of ubuntu I'm positive it will complain the same as tf2 though. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Works perfectly here with nVIdia. For your disabled ati card that DOES NOT support glsl, so unless you get better hardware or write better drivers for it, this bug is invalid. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

Ask valve, they set that limitation, not Wine. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10299 Stefan Dösinger <stefandoesinger(a)gmx.at> changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|CLOSED |UNCONFIRMED Resolution|INVALID | --- Comment #8 from Stefan Dösinger <stefandoesinger(a)gmx.at> 2007-11-03 18:44:20 --- GLSL should not be needed for dxlevel 80, so fglrx has everything to support that. In the past I have run HL2 in dxlevel 80/81 on an ATI card, so this bug is not necessarily a driver fault or misconfiguration. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.

I can't say for sure. Might require further looking into but as for me its resolved at this point. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugs.winehq.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are watching all bug changes.
