Since wine 0.9.58 BabasChess crashes when an opponent sends a message in the chat window. My messages get though fine though. I have attached the output. Even though it says Backtrace: =>1 0x7e2ef515 ALSA_AddRingMessage+0x39() in winealsa (0x7d9f55d0) etc. I think the problem may start with the richedit since it is just text being sent over and the sound was not a main thing on the list of changes since wine 0.9.58. Can you try with Wine 0.9.57 to make sure it's a regression in Wine, rather than a problem with your driver configuration? I can reproduce the crash by playing any sound in BabasChess many enough times. Still I don't think I can rule out a richedit problem just yet because I tried this before I played around with the sound settings and found wine 0.9.47 to be stable and 0.9.48 not to be. I checked with wine 0.9.57.
Sorry, it was alsa that was at fault here. I can reproduce the crash by playing any sound in BabasChess many enough times.
Still I don't think I can rule out a richedit problem just yet because I tried this before I played around with the sound settings and found wine 0.9.47 to be stable and 0.9.48 not to be.
Hopefully I can get wine to crash with OSS sound instead of ALSA and attach the output.

I've been playing he game with wine 0.9.58 and can't get BabasChess 3.6 to crash as I indicated in the summary. I thought I had experienced a similar problem before (that's why I thought it was the richedit code) but it seems it was just the sound. Apologies.
