This was fixed by foltman's patch "riched20: Handle incorrect calls of window
procedure."

I just tested it, and it didn't crash. The ouput shows this when the bad call is
made:
err:richedit:RichEditANSIWndProc RichEditANSIWndProc called with invalid hWnd
(nil) - application bug?

This is in the latest git, or version 0.9.19.
