I also tried to install through wine, but, despite reports online that i've seen, it fails with "err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled Exception Code c000005 flags 0 addr (nil)". I'm on Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid, and tried 1.0.1 (old stable), the default version in the repositories (i don't remember what that was), and the beta directly from wine betas, 1.1.44. Since it kept crashing, i decided to copy over the installation from windows to ubuntu. winecfg sets everything up fine (even sound... *yay*), and when i start lol.launcher.exe it fails with the attached ugly log, and a nice little window saying something along the lines of "post a bug if this doesn't happen in 'doze". Does the game work if you install in windows and copy its directory to another windows install? Please file a bug for the installer. However there's no backtrace printed for the installer, and I figured that a random hex error code with blank flags at address nil (derefrencing a null pointer). I haven't taken a look at the license but I don't think they'd be happy with me running it through gdb. Why they wouldn't open source it if they've made a commitment to keep it free, or at least under a minix1 style license, perplexes me. But I digress. Though I don't know what the problem with the game is, the installer crashes as well.
