Kent, thanks for the data.  
But two favors, please:
1) never run applications as root.  Never.  It bypasses system security
and could endanger your system's health.
2) Don't paste logs into bug reports.  Our enforcer, Vito,
will come after your kneecaps if he catches you doing it again :-)
The preferred way is to attach the log as an, um, attachment.
(You can paste five or so key lines if you know what you're
doing.)
