In fact my mistake I have to use wine version 1.3.35 to make the full game run but both the demo AND the full game refuse to run in 1.6. Strange behaviour with the latest version of wine the title video runs in a window and menu but when selecting 3dfx (using nglide) nothing. In full screen the video doesnt show but you can escape it and the menu is showing partially on the screen but nothing is selectable. Back to 1.3.35
Can you try newer wine? The last attachment contained this err:x11settings:X11DRV_ChangeDisplaySettingsEx No matching mode found 1280x1024x32 @60! (XRandR) And its most likely the reason why it didnt work. I am assuming your xrandr doesnt have such resolution.
