I have tried many ttf fonts, such as WenQuanYi, msyh, Hiragino Sans GB etc. this problem is still there. this problem is happend in wine 1.6/1.7, and above 1.5.21. Other wine versions(0.x ~ 1.5.18) does not exist this problem, fonts shows cleary. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35889 --- Comment #9 from Qian Hong <fracting(a)gmail.com> --- Created attachment 48046 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=48046 Screenshot: clearly rendering on Ubuntu 12.04.2 + Wine 1.7.16 It works fine for me on Ubuntu 12.04.2 with Wine 1.7.16, with Font Replacement correctly set. I guess this is a user misconfigured problem rather than Wine bug, but I don't have idea which part is wrong, maybe some special fontconf setting, maybe bitmap font is missing. If you could do a regression test as comment #1 said, we may have some idea which part is wrong; other wise you could try to install TdxW on Ubuntu with Wine ppa and see if it works, and then compares with your debian to see which package/configure is different, maybe that will be a lot of work. Maybe some more experienced developers have better idea :) -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35889 --- Comment #10 from gamiljydcome(a)gmail.com --- no, it's not clearly, your Screenshot almost same as me. if you use wine1.4 or wine1.5.18, you will see the big difference. it's myabe wine 1.6/1.7 using new way to render ttf fonts. I will try regression test. Thanks. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35889 --- Comment #14 from Nikolay Sivov <bunglehead(a)gmail.com> --- It's not clear what's this is about. For someone to reproduce you need to provide a list of fonts (with versions) that you have installed, Wine font replacements settings, fontconfig settings. About screenshots you attached: https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=47925 This one looks like grayscale AA rendering to me, most likely with hinting enabled, that makes certain parts lighter than they should be. https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=48055 This one is aliased, using bitmaps or not depending on particular font. https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=48056 This one looks like a fallback failure to me, because System font is mixed with Chinese glyphs. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35889 --- Comment #16 from gamiljydcome(a)gmail.com --- Actually chinese font default renderring fuzzy is there util right now (include wine-staging, codewave's wine), i have to force enable AA renderring by hacking wine code (tried setting regkey not working). I'm using debian(always), tde(kde3 fork), English fonts (dejavu, liberation), Chinese fonts is wqy-microhei, wqy-zenhei for wine1.6~1.8rc, simsun for wine1.5.x~1.0.x. fongconfig settings defaults always. wine no font replacement because this software could replace fonts itself. By default font settings tde/gtk2/gtk3 app shows english/chinese fonts clearly. https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=48055 This screenshot using wine1.5.11+SimSun, please notice 'chinses font' is clear. https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=48056 This screenshot using wine1.7.11+SimSun, please notice 'chinses font' is very,very....very fuzzy. I did not post default settings wine1.8rc+WQY screenshot because almost same fuzzy. https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=53010 This screenshot using wine1.5.11+SimSun, please notice 'chinses font' is clearly (Hacked of course). I've tried to make a regression test, but it sounds so hard too me so gave it up, Sorry... But, When i post this bug, i noticed from begin wine1.6 make a big diffrence fonts renderring way to wine 1.5~0.x, see wine1.6 anouncement. And i did't trace this part.
