https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21014 --- Comment #7 from Adam Bolte <abolte(a)systemsaviour.com> --- Created attachment 52861 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=52861 dark_sector-1.8-rc1_output.log.xz The xz-compressed attachment was created via: WINEDEBUG=+tid,+seh,+mmdevapi,+winmm,+driver,+msacm,+midi,+dsound,+dsound3d,+xaudio2,+xapofx,+dmusic,+mci,+pulse,+oss,+alsa,+coreaudio,+timestamp wine DS.exe >dark_sector-1.8-rc1-output.log 2>& You can see from the log that the game includes and executes mplayer to play tgc_logo.avi. The fullscreen video playback via mplayer doesn't work, but the sound does work. It's the only part of the game where audio works. Then shortly after tgc_logo.avi finishes, you see a loading bar for a few seconds, and finally the logo Dark Sector (which has an animated background and presumably where the sound is supposed to begin). Pressing enter here takes you to the main menu (still with the same animated background), and to finish up creating the attached log I just went straight to Quit. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21014 --- Comment #12 from Andrew Eikum <aeikum(a)codeweavers.com> --- With a quick look, I don't see anything obviously wrong with the log. It creates a whole ton of secondary buffers (over 800), but never actually calls Play() on any of them, so no sound is ever played. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21014 --- Comment #14 from Andrew Eikum <aeikum(a)codeweavers.com> --- Not really, what you attached is perfect. This just needs more investigation or a first-hand look at the game while it's running. I'll try to get to it when I can, but unfortunately I don't have a ton of spare time right now. If you're a C programmer and interested in trying to debug it yourself, I could maybe give some guidance. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21014 --- Comment #15 from Adam Bolte <abolte(a)systemsaviour.com> --- Unfortunately I haven't touched C for anything significant in well over 10 years, since I generally write code for system administration work which is generally Python as of late.
