[Bug 40599] New: Firefox : Menu bar or tabs hidden by window manager (kwin)
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40599 Bug ID: 40599 Summary: Firefox : Menu bar or tabs hidden by window manager (kwin) Product: Wine Version: 1.9.9 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org Reporter: fabstz-it(a)yahoo.fr Distribution: --- Created attachment 54445 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=54445 wine_firefox_with_menu_bar With firefox esr (v 38.8 as a portableapp) if the menu bar (File, edition...) is not displayed, part of the tabs is hidden by my window manager (kwin under kde). There are 2 cases : when window is maximized, then part of the tab is hidden, when the window is "restored" then display is acceptable If I enable the menu bar (menu view/toolbars/menu bar, I get there by doing ALT+F, and then navigate with keyboard and mouse), then the menu bar is not visible. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40599 --- Comment #3 from Christian Lampe <kontakt@lampe2020.de> --- Created attachment 80423 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=80423 Screenshot of the issue, example Word 2007 I still see pretty much exactly this issue (except that the behaviour is the same for maximized and restored windows, not different) with any Windows program that overrides Windows' built-in title bar, KWin just draws its own title bar over the contents of the window. Telling KWin to not render the title bar just cuts off the part that would otherwise be covered my KWin's title bar. Examples: Word 2007, HoYoLab launcher -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40599 --- Comment #4 from Christian Lampe <kontakt@lampe2020.de> --- To me it seems like the issue is that WINE does not properly tell KWin that it does not want server-side decorations, because when I disable "Allow window manager to decorate windows" and completely restart WINE (including `wineserver`), Word's own title bar becomes visible (with black emptiness where the window controls should be, though that seems like a separate issue to me). Because I cannot change that setting on a per-application basis I leave it enabled (any application that expects Windows to decorate its window don't have this issue). By the way, I'm on Fedora 43 with KDE Plasma 6.6 (on Wayland) and WINE 11.0-staging, but this issue has been the exact same for me since I switched to KDE probably over two years ago. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
