I can never remember myself off-hand, which one means provided by Wine, and which one is from Windows. Thank goodness winecfg says which is which. FWIW, I get some DXUTCreateDevice failed messabox when forcing d3dx_42 to builtin (Wine version), while forcing it as native (Windows version) lets me play the game on 1.7.8. Just checking... julusp, did you actually mean "builtin" when you say "native"?
I can never remember myself off-hand, which one means provided by Wine, and which one is from Windows.
